Ich Bin Ein Berliner

And it feels great. Never have I been so wrong and felt so good about it. You got words out there for me to eat, line 'em up. I have to make a quick run for coffee, but when I get back I'll be working up what will probably be the longest blog post I have yet composed.

And if the fact that I am admitting that I was wrong and offering to eat my words makes no sense to you, or makes you wonder why I would so randomly - and by way of German introduction - say such a thing, then you should know this: that earlier in this football season, I said that Tony Dungy would never win a Super Bowl. Ever.

I was wrong.

The Indianapolis Colts have just won Super Bowl XLI by positively thrashing the hapless Chicago Bears in a game that wasn't nearly as close as the final score of 29-17 might make it appear.

Stay tuned...

I will wait for yours, before I do mine. And just in case you were wondering, knowing that I am a fan of both, I had decided last week to root for the Colts and Peyton in this one. Strange feeling that this is his one shot. Anyways, I would've obviously been happy either way, but this is how it should be. He deserves it. Now, the question is, where do the Bears go? More on that probably tomorrow. Response to your post and my thoughts on a great day for Colts fans to come laster tonight.

Oh yeah, I totally feel you on the jersey thing. I hate getting the guys that everyone has. I would've wanted a Marlon Jackson before the INT, but now the "pink shirts" will want him too. I would also put Freeney in their with your "too obviouse" selections. How about Rhodes? Was he there? Mathis was a good call, as was June (although I agree he's probably not a Colt next year). I think I would've looked for either Rhodes or Jason David. However, I doubt either of them are there, so Mathis may have been my selection. Ah hell, Payton is always the right call. I would've walked out of there with a #18 as well, so don't feel bad. Ooooh, or Utecht. Now you know there is noone else in the world without the last name Utecht that has that one. Ah who knows, there will be one purchased in my future though.

OK, I look forward to reading, and then writing later.

I'm not real big on Utecht or David - and though I like Freeney, never would have thought to get his shirt. I've been big on Sanders all season, mostly because of the way he shook up the first Patriots game; and I've been big on Clark for the reasons we talked about in various postings and comments after the AFC title game. Of the big-time obvious ones, Manning is the only one I would have gone with. He's the core of this team, my favorite player in the league, maybe the best quarterback ever...and the Super Bowl MVP!

Also, glad to hear from you. How close was that storm to you the other night?

OK, I went ahead and did mine, so check it out and tell me what you think.

As for the tornadoes, they were about 15 minutes from us. what was really wierd though was that we drove right threw there about 10 minutes before they hit. We were screening "Because I said So" and Melonna's theatre and go through Deland on the way home. Deland was one of the two areas that got crushed, along with Lady Lake. We got nothing more than a thunder storm at our house. Didn't even lose power.

I think I will ultimately get a Peyton jersey too. There is a minimal selection of those under the radar types, and as you said, Peyton is the greatest, and my favorite as well, so that'll probably be the way I go. I might still go with Jackson though because I loved him at Michigan.
