This is the Bear We Saw While Hiking (June 28th) in Glacier National Park

And this bruin was quite a bit closer to us than it appears to be from the photo - though we were not in any danger when we passed. We were walking back to the trailhead on the Swiftcurrent Pass trail in the Many Glacier area of the park, when Amy, who was out in front, said, "Stop!" She put her left arm out as though to hold Jackson and I back, and I followed her glance to the left, and up - and there was the bear, perched atop a big rock. We stopped briefly to take one picture each, and then moved on. We thought we heard something else moving on the ground as we moved away, but we didn't see anything. A few steps later, I looked back and saw a second bear on the ground, probably looking for food. I didn't stop for a snap of that one, however. I can't say for sure that either of the bears even knew we were there. They certainly were not interested in us. The whole thing was a little bit scary, and a little bit exciting - definitely one of the highlights of the trip.
